General Information

The Asian Pacific American (APA) Spring Benefit is a black-tie [optional] fundraising gala event, in its seventh year, which focuses on APA young professionals during APA Heritage Month. To date, we have raised over $29,000 to support community-based projects in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

This year's theme is "Reflections: Reinforcing Unity." The event's theme is designed to showcase the achievements of organizations that promote racial and ethnic unity, either through community, educational, or coalition-building efforts in the DC metropolitan area.

The 2003 beneficiaries will be announced in late April 2003. Any individual or group wishing to make a donation toward the beneficiaries are welcome. All donations are fully tax-deductible. Donors will be recognized in the program book.

The evening consists of appetizers and dessert, cash bar, program, and dancing. Ticket prices are $40.00 in advance (by May 1, 2003) and $50.00 at the door. To purchase your ticket(s), please contact the below organizations or contact the ticket coordinator Marisa Wu (see above for contact info). For tax purposes, the actual cost of the dinner is $27. This means the tax-deductible portion for a $40 advance ticket is $13 and for a $50 at door ticket is $23.

Call for Volunteers.

Need assistance in setup, registration, traffic cop, and bouncers for the course of the event. Shifts are scheduled at one-(1) hour intervals starting at 6:30 pm. Please contact Hemi Kim, at admin@kacdc.org.

About APA Spring Benefit

The APA Spring Benefit serves to initiate strong, cooperative relationships among the various Asian Pacific American organizations in the D.C. metropolitan area. Through this annual event, the community is united around the common goal of highlighting important community issues and raising funds for worthy charities/projects whose missions address the Benefit's selected theme. The hope is to identify and support worthy community-based projects in the area, while underscoring the presence and contributions of Asian Pacific American young professionals.
