2nd Annual Korean Heritage Festival

Korean American Association of the Washington Metropolitan Area (KAAW) is proud to present the 2nd annual Korean Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Mason District Park in Annandale, VA. After a successful proclamation and celebration of the 1st Korean Heritage Day last year attended by over 3,000 community members, KAAW is preparing the 2nd annual Korean Heritage Festival with the goal of sharing the day with 10,000 community members. The Festival promises to bridge the cultural gap among the Korean American community and the community at large by providing an opportunity to bring our communities together and to introduce and increase awareness of Korea’s culture in the greater Washington, DC area.

2nd Korean Heritage Festival will consist of the following major events:

9AM – 11AM Korean American Community participation in the annual Annandale Parade
  * NEED 70 VOLUNTEER PARADE PARTICIPANTS – must report to the site by 7AM
11AM – 10PM Korean Heritage Festival
  Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA
  * NEED 60 VOLUNTEERS - must report to the site by 10AM

Korean Heritage Festival Volunteers are asked for assist in the following Program areas:

    • Shuttle Bus & Parking
    • Sports Competition
    • Selected Booth
    • Pony Express
    • Essay Contest
    • Art/Drawing Contest
    • Speech Contest
    • Traditional Korean Wedding
    • Raffle Ticket Sales
    • Traditional Arts and Craft
    • Ceremony
    • Traffic Control

For high school students, KAAW will provide COMMUNITY SERVICE CERTIFICATE if they volunteer for 7 hours or more. Lunch, T-shirts, and caps are provided to the Volunteers. For more information, please call KAAW at (703) 354-3900 or email washingtonkorea@msn.com.
