KAC-DC Presents..
“Perspectives
on North Korea”
Come learn about and discuss the issue of North
Korea and its many facets from people directly involved in the
issues.
Wednesday January 17, 2007 @ 6:30 PM
Cannon 121 House Office Building in the Capitol
Building
(surrounded by First St SE and Independence Ave.)
The issue
of North Korea is everywhere - whether through mainstream news
outlets or late night comedy sketch routines.
And yet, the issue of human
rights in North Korea is shrouded from the public eye. Learn
about the crisis as well as what you can do to help. What are
the six party talks? Who is involved, and what progress has been
made?
Can such a small nation be such a large threat
to the United States?
The panel will include speakers
Adrian Hong, Executive Director of Liberty in North Korea (LiNK),
as well as a representative from the Korean Embassy.
To attend please RSVP to rsvp@kacdc.org with
your name.
LiNK is an international grassroots
movement dedicated to human rights in North Korea and the peaceful
resolution of the North Korean crisis. LiNK's objectives are two-pronged.
First, it is to press for more education and awareness about the
North Korean human rights crisis, and its causes and consequences.
Second, it is to take that awareness and use it in action and advocacy
to promote real and meaningful progress and resolution to the crisis.
Working closely with governments, NGOs, coalitions and activists
around the world, LiNK today has close working relationships with
groups on the frontlines of human rights activism both in North
Korea and China, while also maintaining a number of shelters underground
in China for North Korean refugees in hiding.
