| WASHINGTON,
D.C – The Korean American Coalition, Washington,
D.C. Area Chapter (KAC-DC) announced its organization
leadership for 2005. The Board of Directors and Executive
Officers transition in with expanded programs and new
initiatives aimed at serving the area Korean American
Community.
The Board
of Directors re-elected Ms. Julie Park to serve as President
of KAC-DC for another term. A Program Manager with the
Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) program, Park was first
elected in 2004.
"I am
honored to be re-elected as the President of KAC-DC.
I am excited and look forward to creating a vigorous
agenda and continuing the valuable programs we have
initiated while working with and serving the greater
Washington, D.C. Korean-American community," said
Park.
The Board
of Directors newly appointed Ms. Sunny Han as Chairwoman
of KAC-DC. Ms. Han, CEO and President of Han Sea International,
is also actively involved in North Korean refugee issues.
Ms. Han takes the Chairmanship from Thomas Hahn, who
is stepping down after two consecutive terms as Chairman.
"KAC-DC
is fortunate to have Ms. Julie Park return as the President.
And with newly elected Officers, I look forward to the
full slate of activities KAC-DC will have this coming
year. KAC-DC will look to lead and be a dynamic and
effective organization in advancing the civic, community
and professional development of the Korean Americans
in the Greater Washington, DC metropolitan area,”
said Ms. Han.

The Korean
American Coalition (KAC) is a non-partisan, non-profit
501c(3), community advocacy organization. Established
in 1983, KAC’s mission is to facilitate the Korean
American community’s participation in civic, legislative,
and community affairs. KAC-DC services to educate, organize,
and empower the Korean American community of the Greater
Washington, DC metropolitan area to actively build and
enhance awareness and participation.
