| The
greater metropolitan Washington, DC area is home to the
third largest Korean American community in the United
States. As a result, a number of Korean American organizations
have emerged in the region. These organizations represent
the interests and diversity of the Korean American community.
They also support individuals in the Korean American community
on a wide variety of issues ranging from cultural and
public policy to family and business assistance. It is
evident that the overall intent of each of these specific
organizations is to support the greater Washington Korean
community.
Many
issues affect the Korean community here and across the
nation. Some of these issues include cultural and language
assimilation, inter-generational relations, political
involvement, and cross cultural tension. KAC-DC is committed
to working with leaders and members of the greater Washington,
DC Korean community to bring these issues to light and
identify the steps needed to address these issues.
