The Korean
American Coalition, Washington, DC area chapter (KAC-DC) held
its first citizenship drive (CD) of the year on Sunday, February
20, 2002 from 1 pm to 3 pm at St. Andrew Kim Church in College
Park, MD. Volunteers and board members from KAC-DC and the
community service group at the church assisted 50 Korean Legal
Permanent Residents (LPRs) in completing their N-400 application
for naturalization.
Subsequent
citizenship drives were held on September 20, 2002, at the
Korean Presbyterian Church of Washington in Fairfax, Virginia,
and on October 26, 2002, at the St. Paul Chung Catholic Church
in Fairfax, Virginia. Both drives were well attended by volunteers
and participants alike. In 2002, KAC-DC volunteers assisted
over 150 people become U.S. citizens through its naturalization
workshops.
On December
1, 2002, KAC-DC also held a change-of-address drive to help
permanent residents and legal immigrants fill out their AR-11
forms. The event took place in the multipurpose room of the
Korean Central Presbyterian Church in Vienna, Virginia.
Thank
you to all of our volunteers! Over 50 volunteers helped make
KAC-DC's citizenship drives and change-of-address drive a
success. KAC-DC greatly appreciates the support it has received
from community members.
If you
missed these opportunities to volunteer, don't worry... there
will be more! Please check back often for more citizenship
